Successful Management of Diabetic Retinal Bleeding at Alkafeel Hospital
A specialized ophthalmic surgery team at Alkafeel Hospital in Karbala has successfully treated a 61-year-old man from Baghdad who was suffering from severe vitreous hemorrhage and retinal complications resulting from chronic diabetes mellitus.
Dr. Haider Abbas explained that the patient presented with bleeding within the vitreous humor, fibrosis, and retinal detachment, all caused by diabetic complications. The case required a complex and highly specialized surgical intervention, which was performed at Alkafeel Hospital. The procedure included cataract extraction, intraocular lens implantation, and vitrectomy to remove the hemorrhage and fibrotic tissue that were severely affecting retinal function.
Dr. Abbas added that the patient was treated under the Health Insurance Program, noting the hospital’s close cooperation with the Health Insurance Authority to ensure smooth treatment procedures and comprehensive care.
He emphasized that the advanced medical equipment, modern technologies, and the expertise of the surgical team at Alkafeel Hospital were key factors in achieving excellent outcomes, with the patient making a full recovery following the operation.
