The 33-year-old man never imagined that his journey with back pain would turn into a battle to regain his ability to move.
Dr. Khalid Al-Sarraj, a specialist in neurosurgery and spine surgery, recounts the case of a young man from Baghdad who had previously undergone surgery for disc herniation. He later came to Al-Kafeel Super Specialty Hospital suffering from severe pain at the site of the previous operation, accompanied by weakness in his left lower limb.
Dr. Al-Sarraj explained that medical examinations revealed spinal instability, which had led to a recurrence of the herniated discs. The medical team therefore decided to perform a second surgery.
The procedure involved removal of the recurrent herniated discs, spinal fixation, and placement of artificial intervertebral discs. Following the surgery, the patient’s condition improved significantly; he was relieved of his pain and regained normal mobility.
