Simultaneous Dual Surgeries Successfully Performed for Patient with Knee Deformities

A specialized orthopedic and joint surgery team at Alkafeel Specialized Hospital in Karbala has successfully corrected a hip and knee deformity in a 28-year-old patient.

Dr. Ahmed Naama Al-Taee stated:

"The patient presented with complications from a childhood injury that resulted in knee deformities. Previously, we performed surgery to correct the left knee and implemented internal fixation."

He added: "The patient recently returned for treatment of the right leg, which was 4 cm longer than the left, with a significant knee deviation. Radiological imaging revealed excessive femoral length and knee misalignment."

Dr. Al-Taee explained: "We performed two simultaneous surgeries: femoral osteotomy for length adjustment and knee alignment, followed by internal fixation and bone grafting. The patient was able to stand and walk the day after the surgery and is expected to resume daily activities within 6–8 weeks."
