Al-Kafeel Super Specialty Hospital and Al-Kafeel University, in cooperation with the Unified Iraqi Medical Association in the UK and Ireland, have conducted a scientific workshop addressing the latest advancements in the field of intensive care medicine.
Dr. Rafid Ismail Aziz, President of the Association, stated during a press interview that the two-day workshop included both theoretical and practical components. The sessions were delivered by specialists from the UK and professors from Iraq. He emphasized that the primary goal of the workshop was to train physicians on the latest developments in intensive care medicine, thereby enhancing the quality of healthcare services provided to Iraqi patients.
In turn, Dr. Ridha Al-Kaabi, a consultant and member of the association in Karbala, highlighted that this is not the first collaboration between Al-Kafeel University and the association. He noted that Al-Kafeel Hospital was chosen as the venue for this workshop to shed light on the new protocols adopted in intensive care units aimed at improving patient outcomes. These protocols are based on the latest practices from Iraq, England, and Ireland. Dr. Al-Kaabi also mentioned that the trainers successfully provided comprehensive insights into the topics covered during the workshop.
Moreover, Professor Nofal Mubarak, Dean of the College of Medicine at the University of Basra, stated that the lectures addressed several topics often absent from scientific and medical literature, deriving instead from years of clinical experience. He noted the valuable contributions of the Unified Iraqi Medical Association in the UK and Ireland, alongside professors from the College of Medicine. Professor Mubarak further explained that the discussions were particularly fruitful, focusing on strategies to improve patient outcomes in intensive care, reduce the duration of ICU stays, and accelerate recovery processes.
Participants expressed their admiration for the facilities at Al-Kafeel University and Hospital and revealed plans for continued collaboration. Additional workshops are expected to be held to benefit a larger number of physicians specializing in intensive care medicine.
