A specialized neurosurgery team at Alkafeel Specialized Hospital in Karbala successfully corrected severe spinal curvature in a 13-year-old girl who had undergone two previous unsuccessful surgeries.

Dr. Saif Saud explained:

"The patient had a tumor on the posterior spine, which caused severe curvature. Previous surgeries resulted in complications and worsened the curvature."

He added:

"We performed the surgery in two stages. The first stage involved posterior fixation, while the second stage, a highly specialized procedure, utilized a minimally invasive lateral thoracic approach to implant a bone graft for anterior support of the spine."

Dr. Saud credited the success to a multidisciplinary team comprising neurosurgeons specializing in spine surgery, skilled anesthesiologists, and advanced surgical techniques unique to the hospital.
