Failed to Heal in Two Previous Surgeries Conducted in His Province: Successful Fixation of Complex Comminuted Fractures for a Road Accident Victim

A surgeon at Al-Kafeel Super Specialty Hospital successfully performed a complex comminuted fracture fixation surgery for a patient injured in a road accident. The patient had previously undergone two unsuccessful surgeries in his province. Special techniques were utilized during this procedure, enabling its successful completion.

Dr. Mustafa Waleed, a specialist in orthopedics and fracture surgery, stated:

“We received a patient from a neighboring province of Karbala who had suffered multiple comminuted fractures in the pelvis, femur, and leg, along with a deep abdominal wound, following a road accident a month ago. The patient had undergone two unsuccessful surgeries in his province, leaving the fractures unhealed, prompting him to seek treatment at Al-Kafeel Super Specialty Hospital.”

Dr. Waleed added:

“After conducting precise diagnostic tests, we decided to redo the fracture fixation surgery. We utilized advanced techniques unique to our hospital, employing regional anesthesia due to the patient’s concurrent health issues affecting the brain and abdominal region, which made general anesthesia unfeasible. The fractures were successfully stabilized, and the patient is now in a stable condition. Rehabilitation began the day after surgery to aid the patient in walking.”
