Three Successful Surgeries Performed Simultaneously on a Young Man After a Traffic Accident

A specialized neurosurgery team at Al-Kafeel Super Speciality Hospital in Karbala successfully performed multiple surgeries on different areas of the body for a young man following a severe traffic accident.

Dr. Khalid Al-Sarraj stated in a press interview that a 20-year-old male patient was referred to our facility after sustaining injuries in a traffic accident. The patient suffered fractures in the cervical and thoracic vertebrae, accompanied by severe spinal cord compression in these regions, as well as fractures in both femurs.

Dr. Al-Sarraj explained, "We performed a complex surgical procedure in three stages. The first stage involved reducing the fracture and stabilizing the cervical vertebrae. In the second stage, we fixed the fractures in both femurs. The third stage focused on stabilizing the thoracic vertebrae and decompressing the spinal cord. Remarkably, all these stages were executed simultaneously."

The neurosurgeon emphasized that the operations were successful, and the patient is now in excellent health. He added that these surgeries were particularly challenging due to their complexity, being performed concurrently on the same patient over several hours.

Dr. Al-Sarraj highlighted that the advanced resources and state-of-the-art facilities available at Al-Kafeel Super Speciality Hospital significantly contributed to the success of such complex and demanding procedures.
