A specialized general surgery team at Alkafeel Hospital in Karbala emphasized that having a fully integrated medical team is the foundation for the success of any medical procedure, ensuring satisfactory outcomes for both the patient and the physician.
Dr. Laith Al-Sharifi stated in a press interview that a 66-year-old patient was referred to the hospital after visiting multiple healthcare centers and hospitals across several provinces without receiving an accurate diagnosis or proper treatment.
Dr. Al-Sharifi explained, "We referred the patient to an internal medicine specialist to evaluate his overall health and organ functions in preparation for any potential surgical intervention. Subsequently, a diagnostic endoscopy was performed by a gastroenterologist, which revealed a tumor causing a blockage in the large intestine. The condition was urgent, prompting immediate surgical intervention to remove the tumor entirely and reconnect the intestines."
The consultant surgeon highlighted that the key to the success of any surgical procedure lies in having a multidisciplinary medical team. "This approach not only ensures positive outcomes but also minimizes risks to the patient and reduces the overall time required for treatment," he concluded.
