A pediatric cardiac surgery team at Alkafeel Hospital in Karbala has successfully treated a young girl from Basra suffering from a congenital heart defect. The team attributed the success of such procedures to the hospital’s advanced and specialized techniques.
Dr. Ahmed Aboudi, Director of the Cardiology Center at the hospital, stated in a press interview that a one-year-and-nine-month-old girl was referred to their facility from Basra due to congenital heart abnormalities requiring surgical intervention to correct the defect.
Dr. Aboudi explained that the girl had been initially evaluated and diagnosed by a specialized medical team in Basra before being sent to Alkafeel Hospital. Upon arrival, a comprehensive assessment was conducted to fully understand her condition and prepare her for surgery.
The pediatric cardiac surgeon elaborated that the child was experiencing cyanotic episodes, where oxygen levels in her body would dangerously drop, leading to insufficient oxygen supply to the brain and heart. This condition posed a high risk of complications, including strokes and other related issues.
Dr. Ahmed Aboudi emphasized that, thanks to the hospital’s cutting-edge technologies and resources, the surgical repair was successfully performed. As a result, the child can now lead a normal life, join her peers in attending school and university in the future, and even become a mother and an active, contributing member of society.
This accomplishment underscores Alkafeel Hospital’s commitment to leveraging advanced medical technology to improve patients’ quality of life and foster societal development.
