A specialized neurosurgical team at Alkafeel Hospital in Karbala successfully performed two complex procedures simultaneously on an elderly patient suffering from multiple spinal disc herniations and spinal deformity.
Dr. Hussam Al-Anbari stated in a press release that a 72-year-old patient presented with dual complications: cervical spinal canal stenosis, which caused difficulty in walking, and lumbar spinal cord compression associated with spinal curvature.
Dr. Al-Anbari highlighted that, thanks to the presence of a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, including internal medicine and anesthesia specialists, along with the advanced surgical facilities at Alkafeel Hospital, they were able to perform both surgeries concurrently. The procedures involved decompression of the cervical spinal cord, lumbar spinal nerve root release, and spinal realignment. He confirmed that the surgeries were successful, and the patient is now in excellent health.
