Successful External Strabismus Correction Surgery for a 20-Year-Old Woman

A specialized ophthalmic surgical team at Alkafeel Hospital in Karbala successfully performed strabismus correction surgery for a 20-year-old woman suffering from external strabismus and nystagmus (involuntary eye movements).

Dr. Salam Al-Qarawi explained:
"The patient came to us with symptoms of external strabismus and nystagmus caused by a congenital weakness in the retina."

Dr. Al-Qarawi added that the surgery was performed under general anesthesia and took about 30 minutes to complete. The procedure involved correcting the strabismus, and the patient was able to remove the bandages the following day, returning to her daily activities without issues. The ophthalmic surgeon emphasized that while this type of surgery is challenging, Alkafeel Hospital's advanced techniques and medical supplies allowed for a successful and routine execution of the procedure.
