A specialized neurosurgical team at Alkafeel Hospital in Karbala has highlighted the availability of advanced capabilities and specialized technologies that assist surgeons in accurately diagnosing medical conditions, enabling them to develop the most suitable treatment plans.

Dr. Khalid Al-Sarraj, in a press statement, explained that a 60-year-old patient visited the hospital suffering from sudden weakness in all four limbs. After consulting multiple specialized centers and hospitals, he was initially diagnosed with a stroke and admitted to a hospital for stroke treatment. However, no significant improvement was observed.

Dr. Al-Sarraj further explained that upon the patient’s visit to Alkafeel Hospital, a thorough clinical examination was conducted, which revealed no clear signs of a stroke. Further comprehensive medical investigations identified a condition known as "complete disc rupture" with the ruptured disc migrating into the spinal canal at the upper cervical vertebrae.

The neurosurgeon emphasized that after an accurate diagnosis, an appropriate treatment plan was developed, involving a surgical intervention to completely remove the damaged disc, replace it with an artificial one, and stabilize the vertebrae. He confirmed that the surgery was successful, with the patient immediately regaining movement in all four limbs and being discharged in excellent health
