A specialized colorectal surgical team at Alkafeel Hospital in Karbala announced the successful resection of a rectal tumor from the upper rectum in a Karbala woman. This success was attributed to the presence of a well-coordinated team with extensive experience and high proficiency in advanced laparoscopic procedures. Dr. Ahmed Al-Haj, in a press statement, explained that a 49-year-old woman from Karbala presented with rectal bleeding. After conducting necessary medical examinations, including endoscopy and spiral CT, a tumor in the upper rectum was identified. The tumor was small, as it was in its early stages. A biopsy revealed that it was a malignant cancerous tumor.
Dr. Al-Haj further explained that the patient underwent an advanced laparoscopic surgery to completely resect the tumor from its roots, along with the removal of all affected lymph nodes. The clean colon and rectum were then successfully reconnected without the need for an external stoma, as the tumor was small and in its early stage.
The colorectal surgeon attributed the success of the operation to the presence of a comprehensive medical team of skilled surgeons and anesthesiologists, who have extensive experience in advanced laparoscopic surgeries. Dr. Al-Haj added that the patient left the operating room in excellent vital condition.
