A specialized pediatric cardiac surgery team at Alkafeel Hospital successfully treated a child with a congenital heart defect. The team emphasized the crucial role of a well-coordinated, multidisciplinary approach in achieving successful outcomes for such complex procedures.
Dr. Ahmed Aboudi stated in a press interview, "A six-year-old child from Kirkuk visited our hospital suffering from a large ventricular septal defect (VSD) and right ventricular outflow tract obstruction. His condition was considered advanced due to the relatively late diagnosis and treatment."
He added, "We performed a surgical correction of the defect, allowing his heart to function normally like his peers. This success was made possible by the presence of state-of-the-art operating rooms, advanced intensive care units, and a specialized post-operative ward dedicated to ensuring patient safety and preventing infections. Additionally, we provided the child's family with thorough training on medication management and post-operative care during the recovery period."
