Precision Surgery Saves a Patient from Recurrent Lung Tumor at Alkafeel Hospital

A specialized medical team at Alkafeel Hospital successfully performed a complex surgical procedure to remove a lung tumor in a 33-year-old woman from Babil Province.

Dr. Ahmed Jawad Al-Khafaji, a thoracic and vascular surgeon at the hospital, stated that the patient had previously undergone surgery to remove a lung tumor, but it recurred and spread within the lung.

Dr. Al-Khafaji explained that the case required a highly precise surgical intervention to ensure the complete removal of the tumor, including resecting the lower lobe of the left lung to prevent recurrence. Additionally, adjacent lymph nodes were excised based on the recommendations of an oncology specialist to mitigate the risk of new tumor formation. The procedure was performed after the patient had received chemotherapy treatment.

Dr. Ahmed Al-Khafaji announced the success of the operation, emphasizing that proper planning and precise timing were key factors in achieving a favorable outcome.
