A specialized medical team at Al-Kafeel Hospital successfully performed a complex corneal transplant for a 72-year-old woman from Al-Anbar Province.
Dr. Mohamed Qabil, Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon, stated that the surgical procedure involved three delicate phases: corneal transplantation, cataract extraction, and implantation of an intraocular lens. He noted that the unusually small size of the patient's eye posed a significant surgical challenge, increasing the risk of bleeding and necessitating high precision and speed throughout the operation.
Dr. Qabil emphasized the critical need to implant the cornea as swiftly as possible while maintaining stable intraocular pressure, a process that demands exceptional expertise, surgical accuracy, and meticulous control of ocular pressure throughout the procedure.
Thanks to the team’s advanced expertise and surgical skills, they successfully overcame the complexities of the case, achieving an outstanding medical outcome
