Complex Surgery Successfully Removes Recurrent Lung Tumor at Alkafeel Hospital

A specialized medical team at Alkafeel Hospital has successfully performed a complex surgical procedure to remove a recurrent lung tumor from a 33-year-old woman from Babylon Province.

Dr. Ahmed Jawad Al-Khafaji, a thoracic and vascular surgery specialist at the hospital, explained that the patient had previously undergone surgery for lung tumor resection, but the tumor had reappeared and spread within the 

He noted that the case required a highly precise surgical approach to ensure complete tumor removal. The procedure involved a lower left lobectomy (removal of the lower lobe of the left lung), in addition to the excision of nearby lymph nodes as per the oncologist’s recommendation, to minimize the risk of recurrence. The surgery was performed after the patient had completed a course of chemotherapy.

Dr. Al-Khafaji confirmed the success of the operation, emphasizing that careful preoperative planning and optimal timing were key factors in achieving a favorable outcome.
