Successful Thoracoscopic Surgery Saves a Woman from Pulmonary Empyema at Alkafeel Hospital

A specialized thoracic surgery team at Alkafeel Hospital has successfully performed a minimally invasive thoracoscopic procedure on a 65-year-old woman from Babil Province, who was suffering from pulmonary empyema and an abscess in the pleural wall.

Dr. Ahmed Jawad Al-Khafaji, Consultant Thoracic and Vascular Surgeon at the hospital, stated that the patient had visited several hospitals and physicians prior to coming to Alkafeel, without receiving a satisfactory diagnosis or treatment.

We performed a thoracoscopic procedure through a very small incision,” Dr. Al-Khafaji explained. “The pleural wall was thoroughly cleaned from pus and abscess formations.” He noted that the patient was discharged in good health just 36 hours after the procedure. Dr. Al-Khafaji emphasized that this successful outcome is a testament to the high level of expertise and precision of the medical team at Alkafeel Hospital in performing advanced and delicate thoracic surgeries.
