A specialized general surgery team at Alkafeel Hospital successfully saved the life of a 31-year-old patient from Karbala suffering from widespread hydatid cysts extending from the liver to other organs. The delicate laparoscopic procedure lasted over two hours.
Dr. Laith Al-Sharifi, head of the surgical team, stated that the patient presented with severe abdominal pain. Diagnostic ultrasound and CT scans revealed hydatid cysts located in the left lobe of the liver, extending to the stomach, pancreas, spleen, and involving blood vessels. This critical condition necessitated an emergency surgical intervention.
Dr. Al-Sharifi explained that the procedure was performed laparoscopically with high precision, successfully completed without complications, reducing the risk of adverse outcomes, and restoring normal liver function. He affirmed that Alkafeel Hospital remains committed to delivering advanced medical care for complex cases through modern techniques.
