Orthopedic surgeon: The "Ilizarov" technique spared patients with complex fractures from traveling abroad
A specialized medical team in orthopedic, fracture, and joint surgery at Al-Kafeel Super Speciality Hospital in Karbala announced its success in ending the suffering of a 23-year-old young man from Al-Diwaniyah Governorate, who was suffering from a chronic and complex inflammation in the shinbone, which required a precise surgical intervention using the modern "Ilizarov" technique.
Dr. Osama Abdul Hassan stated that the patient had undergone several previous surgical operations in other hospitals without achieving the desired recovery, which led to his referral to the consulting clinic at Al-Kafeel Super Speciality Hospital based on the recommendation of a doctor.
Abdul Hassan explained that the patient was suffering from a chronic and intractable inflammation in a part of the shinbone, indicating that a precise treatment plan was established that included performing a successful surgical operation during which the completely inflamed part of the bone was completely cut and removed, to ensure the eradication of the chronic infection source.
Abdul Hassan added that, after removing the infected part, we compensated for the resulting length deficit and gradually lengthened it using the Ilizarov technique. This is a specialized external fixation device we use to stimulate the growth of new bone and bridge the gap resulting from the cutting. pointing out that the Ilizarov technique represents an advanced and effective solution in dealing with chronic bone inflammation cases that require cutting and reconstruction, noting that this technique has made dealing with such complex cases easy and possible.
