Young Man from Najaf Saved Following a Road Traffic Accident and Complex Surgical Procedures

A specialized orthopedic, trauma, and joint surgery team at Al-Kafeel Super Specialty Hospital announced the successful treatment of a 21-year-old patient from Najaf Province who sustained severe injuries in a road traffic accident.

Dr. Ihsan Al-Faraj stated that the patient was admitted in an extremely critical condition. He had multiple comminuted fractures involving the pelvis, femur, and lower leg, in addition to a humeral fracture. The patient was also unconscious due to acute intracranial hemorrhage resulting from the accident, which required urgent and intensive medical intervention.

Dr. Al-Faraj added that the patient was immediately admitted to the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where he underwent close and continuous monitoring by the specialized critical care team. Following a critical period of observation and treatment, the patient gradually regained consciousness and his medical condition stabilized.

The orthopedic trauma surgeon explained that once the patient’s condition had stabilized, he was transferred to the operating room, where a precise and complex surgical procedure was performed to stabilize the comminuted fractures using advanced surgical techniques and equipment available at the hospital. The procedure was successful, and all fractures were effectively stabilized.

Dr. Al-Faraj emphasized that the next important stage is intensive physical rehabilitation to restore muscle strength and joint function, with the aim of enabling the patient to walk again and regain normal function of his limbs. He noted that the availability of advanced medical capabilities, modern technologies, and specialized healthcare teams at Al-Kafeel Super Specialty Hospital enabled the care team to manage this complex case and achieve very good clinical outcomes.
