successful Esophageal Stricture Expansion Surgery for a Child

A cardiac and thoracic surgery team at Alkafeel Specialized Hospital successfully performed esophageal stricture expansion surgery on a 13-year-old boy from Muthanna.

Dr. Hassanain Al-Musawi explained:

"The child presented with severe swallowing difficulties, unable to consume solid foods and reliant solely on liquids and soft diets. Previous endoscopic expansion attempts had failed."

He elaborated:

"Through precise radiological and diagnostic evaluations, we identified a narrowing in the lower esophagus and sphincter. The surgical procedure involved expanding the esophagus by loosening the surrounding muscle tissues to restore proper diameter and function. The operation was successful, and the child has fully recovered, now able to eat normally."
