A specialized interventional radiology team has successfully treated a young woman with a femoral bone tumor without resorting to traditional surgery.
Dr. Ali Mohammed Jalil explained in a press statement that a twenty seven-year-old patient from Babil province presented with severe, unexplained left thigh pain. The condition, persisting for an extended period, disrupted her sleep and required constant analgesics.
"CT imaging revealed a bone tumor located at the top of the left femur," Dr. Jalil stated. He highlighted that such cases were historically managed via surgical intervention. However, thanks to advanced technologies at Al-Kafeel Super Specialty Hospital, the tumor was treated using CT-guided thermal ablation through a minimally invasive opening of just two millimeters, achieving a success rate exceeding ninety per cent.
He added, "The procedure was completed in less than an hour, and the patient was discharged the same day in good health."
This milestone underscores the hospital’s commitment to leveraging cutting-edge medical technology to enhance patient outcomes.
