Dr. Sarmad Al-Rubaie, a pediatric surgeon, revealed the hospital's continuous efforts to advance its practices and prepare its medical staff to perform complex and challenging surgeries as routine procedures.
In a press statement, Dr. Al-Rubaie explained that a two-year-old child from Baghdad Province, suffering from congenital intestinal obstruction (Hirschsprung's disease), had undergone an emergency surgery shortly after birth at another hospital to create a stoma in the small intestine due to a perforation.
The pediatric surgeon stated that over the past two years, the child was seen at several medical centers. Upon his referral to Al-Kafeel Hospital, we evaluated his condition and decided to perform a surgical intervention to remove the damaged colon and reconnect the small intestine to the anal canal.
He further elaborated that the child was prepared for surgery by conducting all the necessary medical tests. The operation, which lasted approximately three hours, was successfully completed, and the child has since regained full health.
Dr. Al-Rubaie emphasized that our medical team is well-versed in performing such procedures. The hospital's staff possesses extensive experience in handling these cases. Al-Kafeel Hospital remains committed to advancing its capabilities to perform highly specialized and complex surgeries, aiming to make them routine in its practices.
