Congenital Deformity Repaired for Lebanese Woman

A 30-year-old Lebanese woman regained her ability to speak and eat normally after undergoing a complex surgical procedure performed by a specialized medical team at Alkafeel Hospital to treat a congenital deformity of the upper jaw.

Dr. Radwan Al-Taie, a maxillofacial surgery specialist at the hospital, stated that the patient presented with a congenital condition involving underdevelopment of the upper jaw, along with a fistula between the nose and mouth caused by a complete cleft lip and uvula since birth.

He explained that the fistula had severely affected her ability to speak and eat, as food would pass through both the nose and mouth.

Dr. Al-Taie performed a successful surgery using advanced techniques, in which the fistula was closed using intraoral flaps. The nasal and oral linings were separated, and the uvular muscles were realigned.

He confirmed the success of the operation and emphasized that Alkafeel Hospital is equipped with the resources and specialized medical staff necessary to perform such complex procedures.
