Karbala Keeps Pace with Global Medical Advancements

Alkafeel Cardiac Center and Karbala Cardiac Center Organize Scientific Sessions to Discuss Global Updates in the Field
In a pioneering step to enhance the scientific and medical stature of Karbala, the Cardiac Center at Alkafeel Hospital, in collaboration with the Karbala Cardiac Center, continues to organize regular scientific sessions aimed at discussing the latest global developments in cardiovascular medicine. This initiative has recently expanded to include the Health Authority of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein and other specialized Cardiac centers from the provinces of Babel and Najaf, reflecting a forward-looking vision to position Karbala as a leading city in the medical field.
Dr. Ahmed Aboudi, Director of the Cardiac Center at Alkafeel Hospital, stated that this scientific collaboration initially began with the Karbala Cardiac Center and has since witnessed remarkable growth. “The participation has now extended to include the Health Authority of the Holy Shrine and additional cardiac centers from Babel and Najaf. These sessions focus on keeping up with the latest research and global updates in cardiac diseases, both in surgical and interventional (catheter-based) approaches,” he said.
Dr. Aboudi added that the primary goal of these ongoing sessions is to exchange knowledge and expertise among medical teams to enhance the quality of healthcare services provided to patients. He also noted that these scientific meetings, workshops, and forums will continue to be held monthly in different locations, while maintaining a unified goal — the development of medical expertise and the advancement of patient care.
For his part, Dr. Ahmed Qasim Al-Haidari, Director of the Karbala Cardiac Center, explained that the most recent session focused on aortic valve diseases, which represent a rapidly advancing topic globally. He highlighted that many recent studies — including those presented at the European Society of Cardiology Congress held in Madrid — have introduced new scientific recommendations and treatment updates that must be followed to remain aligned with international standards.
Dr. Al-Haidari emphasized the continuity of cooperation between the Karbala Cardiac Center and Alkafeel Specialty Hospital, describing it as a collaboration that brings significant positive outcomes for patients from Karbala and other Iraqi provinces alike.
