As part of its ongoing efforts to elevate community health awareness, and within the activities of Pink October, Alkafeel Hospital has targeted the academic sector through an intensive awareness program. Dr. Anwar Al-Hashimi, delivered a comprehensive lecture at Al-Safwa University. The lecture, held at Al-Safwa University, aimed to provide the university's staff and female students with accurate knowledge about the nature of breast cancer, empowering them to promote this vital health awareness within their communities. Dr. Al-Hashimi presented detailed information on the early symptoms of the disease, modern diagnostic methods, and available treatment options, with a focus on the most susceptible age groups and the most effective preventive practices. She emphasized the importance of adopting a preventive approach that begins at home, stating that regular self-examination is the first and essential step every woman should take to detect any abnormal changes in the breast. Dr. Al-Hashimi highlighted that the key to recovery lies in transitioning from self-examination to specialized medical screening, noting that mammography is the most effective tool, especially for women over the age of forty. The specialist further clarified that mammography becomes particularly crucial for women with a first-degree family history (mother, sister, or maternal aunt) of breast, uterine, or ovarian cancer. Dr. Al-Hashimi concluded by affirming the significant role of mammography in detecting the disease at a very early stage, thereby dramatically increasing survival rates and reducing the likelihood of advanced-stage diagnoses. This approach represents the ultimate goal of the awareness initiatives implemented by Alkafeel Hospital in support of educational and social institutions.
