A specialized medical team in orthopedic, fracture, and joint surgery at Al-Kafeel Super Speciality Hospital in Karbala announced its success in a surgical operation for a 55-year-old female patient from Karbala, who was suffering from a complex comminuted fracture of the ankle joint. It was noted that the patient suffers from chronic diseases, most notably chronic heart failure.

Dr. Hussam Ajmi stated that the patient's condition required extreme caution given the danger of the fracture and its coincidence with chronic diseases that may complicate the surgical procedure. To overcome these challenges, the operation was performed using regional anesthesia, a safe option for patients suffering from cardiac conditions. the fracture was fixed by means of a locking plat, a modern technique that ensures high stability for the bones.

The orthopedic surgeon confirmed that the operation was crowned with success, and the patient left the hospital in good health.
