A medical team specializing in neurosurgery at Al-Kafeel Specialized Hospital in Karbala successfully performed a precise and advanced surgical procedure on a female patient in her thirties, using microsurgical techniques (microscope).

Dr. Husam Al-Anbari stated, “A 31-year-old female patient from Karbala came to us having suffered for a long time from severe pain extending from her back to her right leg, accompanied by persistent numbness,” noting that “medical tests, specifically an MRI, confirmed the presence of a large herniated disc between the fifth lumbar vertebra and the first sacral vertebra.”

Al-Anbari added, “Based on the test results, it was decided to perform a surgical intervention using a surgical microscope through a small incision no larger than two centimeters,” explaining, “During the procedure, we were able to remove the herniated disc with extreme precision and decompress the nerve roots without causing any significant surgical damage.”

The neurosurgeon explained that “these microsurgical procedures are characterized by their excellent therapeutic outcomes, as well as their speed—the procedure took less than 30 minutes—which provides significant comfort to the patient and shortens the recovery period,” emphasizing that “the patient is currently in very good health and is on the road to a full recovery.”
