A medical team specialising in facial and maxillofacial surgery at Al-Kafeel Specialist Hospital in Karbala has announced that it has successfully put an end to the suffering of a patient who was involved in a road traffic accident that severely affected his face and vital functions, through a precise surgical procedure that left no visible surgical scars.

Dr Muntazar Saleh stated, “We admitted a 46-year-old patient from Karbala Governorate to the hospital; he was complaining of numbness beneath the eye and limited function in opening his mouth following a road traffic accident.”

Saleh added, “After carrying out the necessary clinical examinations and taking X-rays, it became apparent that a fracture of the zygomatic bone was causing these symptoms,” explaining that “we immediately performed surgery during which the fracture was stabilised using a metal plate inserted through the mouth, ensuring that there would be no surgical marks or scarring on the face.”

The specialist in maxillofacial surgery confirmed that “the operation was a complete success, and the patient is currently in excellent health and making a full recovery whilst receiving ongoing medical care from the hospital’s specialist team.”
